President’s Message January 2026

January 2026 President’s message

Well, 2025 closed out with great weather, busy holidays, promises and resolutions for the new year.

I hope your holidays were spent enjoying friends, family and all that goes with the Christmas and new years festivities.

We personally enjoyed Christmas at our family home in South Jordan, first with a large family dinner the Sunday before and then a quiet Christmas morning ( adults only) no kids at home this year. Marilyn and I then finished Christmas day with our tradition of going to a Kurt Bestor Christmas concert in Park City.

As this new year began we commenced on our annual polar bear ride on New Years Day. I had to work that morning, so I took the cage because of uncertain weather. When I met up with the other faithful polar bears it turns out that only David Long was brave enough and equipped enough to handle the cool wet weather. About 15 of us met up and made the journey over to Los Lupes in Mesquite. There we had a very nice Mexican lunch, service was good and so was the food. We then ventured back to St George, Mark and myself rode with Mike Roe there and back, we made it safely even though I left my coffee mug in Mikes back seat. Thanks for dropping it off Mike.

As I stated in December, we have some major changes taking place in the club and we would love any help, advice, or assistance in organizing our future as we explore new ground in starting a social media / facebook page with Chris Kurz helping us in this endeavor.

We are also looking for recommendations on overnight, Rallies, multi day rides, and weekly ride destinations, please get in touch with David Long or myself about your ideas or suggestions.

We also need help in planning our monthly dinners, and where to go. Please contact me if you would like to volunteer for this position.

Another area we need help in is the club secretary, as you know Mike Roe has stepped down after many years of service, we have yet to file his position for the new year. Please contact me if you are interested in this position.

We still have a few members that have not paid dues for this new year, if you haven’t and are planning on being active with us this year, please pay you dues asap.

Upcoming events:

*Drifters weekly rides every Thursday ( weather permitting), this time of year we will mostly head south towards warmer weather.

* Saturday meetups at 11am for coffee, breakfast & tall tales ( currently at Mcdonalds off the Washington Parkway exit from I15). We are taking suggestions on other possible meet up places for these days. Please let Mike Roe know if you have suggestions.

* There is also a locals car & bike meet up Fridays at 8pm at Way Back Burgers off Riverside drive.
