President’s Message May 2026

The heats definitely been turned up on our riding season and now is the time to start thinking about heading to the hills or the beautiful mountains I should say.

We have had some awesome rides over the last several weeks, some I’ve been able to attend and others that I have not. Since the beginning of April we have been to Mad Mikes in Mesquite, Jacobs lake t, MeMe’s in Springdale, Silver café in Pinoche, Fire & Smoke in Cedar City, & Cliff Dwellers in Vermillion Cliffs.

Our rides have been awesome, but not without some challenges. We are struggling with ride planning and leadership while David Long is recovering from surgery. We need help with others helping to plan and lead while he recovers, anyone can suggest, plan, and lead a ride. Please consider stepping forward and helping out the club.

A reminder that Drifters friend Tell Wade is hosting an coffee and doughnuts gathering on Fridays at 10am at MotoUnited, all are invited to come tell tall tales whether you ride or arrive in your cage.

This months Drifter Dinner is scheduled for  May 23rd at Bowmans Cowboy Kitchen in Cedar City, I heard very tasty and positive reports about the food there during a ride back in March. Please call Lynne @ 435-691-5576 to reserve so Lynne can give a head count to the restaurant.

Now for the announcement that I have been dreading, It is with deep regret that I announce that our company is transferring me back to the Salt lake City area. I have been commuting to St George for 8 years now and as many of you know, my wife Marilyn operates 36 Del Tacos in the state. She has created a new position for me up north so that I can return home and be present at our South Jordan home. This is a bitter sweet time for me as I have loved living down here in the south and I have made a lot of friends both in and out of our group and I’m going to greatly miss everyone. On the other hand, I am looking forward to a lot shorter commutes for work and a new job within our company and being closer to Kids, grandkids and friends up north. With this transfer I am obviously going to have to give up my position with our club, I have really enjoyed being apart of helping the Drifters as best I could. I will continue my membership from afar so that I can continue to communicate and be apart of this fantastic group. I will be working with the other officers in the Drifters over the next month to transition my duties to whoever can step forward to assume things until the next business meeting. I will miss you all.

P.S. I hope some of you will join me at the Panguitch Rally in July, I have my reservation in.
