DECEMBER 2023 DRIFTER PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

HO, HO, HO, it’s that time of year again! The final sprint to the Christmas holidays when you hope the sappy Christmas movies that have flooded your television since July will finally come to an end by New Year’s Day! Thankfully we own motorcycles so we can escape the craziness of the season so long as the weather allows. Thanks to our new Head Road Captain, David Long, we have been doing just that. Since David took over the Head Road Captain position he has planned and lead several great Drifter Thursday rides. Every one seems to like David’s advanced planning so we know the mileage and destination before the ride. Ride participation is up and there seems a new enthusiasm for planning more fun rides. REMEMBER…any Drifter can suggest, plan, and lead a ride. It can be a day ride, an overnighter, or a multi day ride. Just let David know so it can be put on the calendar.

Of course November means Thanksgiving and over eating. Drifters met for our annual Thanksgiving dinner at the Black Bear Diner. Twenty one biker scum and guests sat together at a long table and enjoyed turkey dinners or prime rib with all the trimmings. Portions were large and desert was included. A few Drifters had a rough time crawling to their cages and hoisting themselves into the seats after over indulging the holiday repast. Thanks to all who came and to our webmistress Dawn for putting out the announcements. Hopefully your food will settle in time for the upcoming Drifter Christmas dinner and party to be held Saturday, December 16th at Chef Alfredo’s. As of this writing thirty two people have already RSVP’d to our treasurer Lynne.

Coming Saturday January 27th, 2024 we will have our annual business meeting and pot luck dinner at David and Tammy’s. At this meeting we elect new officers, collect dues, review the past year, and plan for 2024.

On New Year’s Day our traditional Polar Bear Run will be the first Drifter event of 2024. Details to follow soon.

The Polar Bear Ride is a rain or shine event so if we can’t ride we’ll take our cages. For members whose wives and SOs don’t ride we’ll try to arrange a car pool so they can come too!

SEE YOU OUT THERE!
