April 2024 Newsletter

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

March 2024 was an interesting month of remembrance and changing seasons and weather for the Drifters.

We started out with some of us going to John’s garage and sifting through his tools, motorcycle supplies and memories. He had a lot of all.

John’s family was very generous with our club and let us take anything we wanted. John’s son even gave up his newest awesome helmet to Scott Blue when he found out he was a fellow Goldwing rider. In the end the bulk of his tools went to a grandson that came and is training to be a mechanic and will be able to use the tools to help him get started in his career.

We had a great turnout to our monthly dinner at Balcony One in Virgin. The dinner was on St Patricks day so several were able to partake of the corned beef special that was offered while a lot of us had either some of us had their awesome steaks, pasta, or salads. We took some time to remember John, and Mike offered some personal memories. Over all it was a great time had by all.

We had some really nice rides this during March, our 1st ride went to Oasis golf course in Mesquite, we rode out hwy 91 to Mesquite and then back through Scenic and the gorge. Our next ride took us to enterprise where we dine at the café, we rode out past Veyo and then Back past Gunlock, we were blessed with terrific weather and great scenery. Last week we took a longer ride out to Page, Arizona by way of Colorado and Kanab. We had an awesome fried chicken lunch and great conversations. We returned back seeing awesome views of the dam and Lake Powell, riding back through Kanab, Mt Carmel, and Zon Park where we got to see deer, bison, and big horn sheep.

The annual Patriots poker run out of Zion Harley that benefited the Kane County Seach and Rescue. Scott Blue, Craig and Ellen Denbow and myself went for the ride that day and managed to stay just ahead of the rain, we had a great time, met some new friends and had some awesome bbq for lunch, all while helping to raise some money for a great cause.

I had planned on riding in the annual Polar Bear poker run this coming Saturday in Salt Lake City, but it looks like the weather is going to make me drive a cage if I’m going to participate.

There are lots of options for hotel rooms, rv & camp sites. I hope to see you there.
