President’s Message October 2025

October Presidents Message

What a month it has been! Work, rides, festivities, and overnights.

Just came off this week’s ride to see the fall colors that took us up Cedar canyon, past Duck Creek, Mammoth area, past Brian Head, and a great lunch in Parowan. The colors were fantastic! Thanks, David, for waiting the extra week to do this ride, it was worth it.

I have only made it to a few rides these last couple of months because work has kept me busy on Thursdays. I did, however, get to go overnight to Torrey and back and my wife was able to go too. This trip was warm, cold, beautiful & scenic all in one, again, thanks David for planning and executing this ride. We rode out through Zion and out to Hwy 89 north past Hatch and then east through Bryce Canyon, had lunch in Tropic, and then out through Boulder, Escalante, and stopping for the night in Torrey, we had a fantastic steak dinner in Torrey and comfy rooms to sleep in, thank goodness since we were all very tired. The next morning, we woke up to 33-degree temperatures, had a good breakfast provided by the hotel and set out on our return trip via the Fish Lake National Forest where we saw some awesome colors.

My wife and I actually got to go on another beautiful fall color ride up north over Wolf Creek Pass area north of Strawberry Reservoir, we had never been this route before, it was a really beautiful ride with friends and family.

Now on to business! Our annual Club business meeting is being held in just over a week on October 11th at David and Tammy Longs house. It will be potluck style, Please RSVP with our club Treasurer Lynne Piper at 435-691-5576. Lynne will be coordinating the potluck items, so be sure to let her know you’re coming and what you plan to bring. The club will be providing water & soft drinks. David also requested anyone who can to bring extra tables and chairs, I can assist with picking them up if needed.

This meeting will be your opportunity to nominate (impeach if you’d like) and select officers for the next year, all officer positions are open for nominations including President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. We are also looking for volunteers to take over for Mike Roe as Membership Coordinator, and also for Dawn Derenski as our Webmistress. Both Mike and Dawn have set the standard for our club with many years of service and have asked to be released from their duties. Please consider helping to fill these positions so we don’t have to turn to the spirit for help. This is a great way to help contribute to the club and to play an active role in its future.

I hope to see as many members as possible at the business meeting so that we can plan for next year’s rides and events.

In closing I would like to invite anyone who would like to join me Saturday for the “Riding for Kids” event this Saturday from 10-2 at Zion Harley. This is a Benefit for Operation Christmas Child, cost is $20. Bring a toy to donate or see their ad online. Registration is at 10am at Harley, Kick stands up for the ride at 11.
