President’s Message June 2025

Greetings fellow Drifters,

June is upon us, and along with it our hottest months of riding are ahead both figuratively and physically. I get excited for all the riding that this time of year opens up for us.

I missed a lot of the rides and functions the last 6 weeks or so with our new Del Taco opening by Sun River on April 30th.  I have 1 item that will interrupt some of my riding down south this new month as my Marine son Cody will be transferring to Camp Lejune, Noth Carolina the end of June, but 1st he will be home with us in Northern, Utah from May 31st thru June 27th. We will be spending a lot of June up north with family and friends while he is home, but he has also let me know that he wants to come down to Southern Utah and meet our club and go for a ride or 2 while he is home.

I hear Mike is healing and I hope as everyone else does, that he will heal with speed and be back riding with us soon. I enjoyed reading about his last ride with our group on May 9th before his surgery. I would have really liked to be on that ride to enjoy his company.

I heard great reports from David Long and a few others about their ride to the Milford Steak house on May 15th, this was a multi cultural dining feast from what I hear.

I  was able to enjoy the May 22nd ride to Duck Creek and the food was as good as ever. Don & Dita Quayle cleared the way up the canyon and had a table waiting for the rest of us when we got there. We all had a friendly wager on what Don & Dita would eat, Dita did not disappoint (they do have the best burgers there). Don blew our wagers by switching up this time. We left Aunt Sue’s and rode east to Hwy 89 and then down to Mt Carmel and back thru Zion National Park, what a beautiful ride. We finished with some cool drinks at the Maverik in Laverkin before everyone went their separate ways.

I would like to welcome Bob & Eileen Naquin to or club and I hope to meet you very soon, this is a great group of people that I have grown to enjoy every time we are together. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the camaraderie that this club offers.

We have added some great new members the last few years. I hope everyone continues to reach out to friends and acquaintances that might bring even more personalities, stories, and culture to our club. The more tall tales and life (2 or 3) wheel stories the better.

Panguitch Old Skool Rally is coming up shortly, Jul 10 -14. I will be attending and I have several family and friends that will be in attendance this year. I will be staying at the Dixie Forrest camp ground on the south end of town. We will have a few group meals at our camp ground. I hope as many of  you that can, will attend. I am also considering the 4 corners rally in Durango, Colorado the last weekend in August. I’ll have more info on that soon.
