August 2024 Newsletter
Presidents Message
Happy mid summer everyone, riding is hot and the views in the high mountains and cooler areas are spectacular!
I wanter to first give Mike Roe and Scott Blue big shout outs for stepping up while our ride captain David Long has been gone on vacation, and while I’ve been dealing with some unfortunate stuff.
David, I believe is gone until the 11th of August, and unfortunately I will be up north until then.
It’s been reported to me that our group that went to the Rally in Panguitch had a great time, I hear there’s a store to be told about Jeff’s bike.
I do have some unfortunate news to report from the Panguitch rally, my friend AJ the Indian Sales manager from salt lake who is a sponsor at the rally tragically lost his girlfriend early that Sunday morning on the weekend at the rally. It was a very tough time for those of us that new Megan, they had a memorial ride last weekend for her, it was very touching.
I also was not able to attend the Panguitch rally after all that planning, my son was having a tough time in Okinawa, so I took some emergency time to go help him. It was time wellspent and he is doing well now.
I wanted to take a minute and also touch on all the recent motorcycle related tragedies both in this immediate area and also up north. It truly appears that we are in the midst of the 100 most dangerous days on the road this year. As a group that enjoys riding together on our group rides, we do a great job of riding safe, communicating, and wearing proper safety gear. Unfortunately a lot of the most recent accidents that have occurred, a majority were not wearing things as simple as helmets. Some were a result of road rage, which is very unfortunate as we will always be on the losing end. I would like to encourage all of us to continue to be as safe as possible, brush up on motorcycle safety tips and also make sure we are pre-checking our bikes before rides to help prevent issues. I am including a few attachments to help assist each of us in staying safe before, during and after our rides.
